Faye Aline Self

What better way to honor her missing mother than being a voice for not only Faye Aline Self, but for many other victims of crime in Louisiana as well. Please join daughter Karrie and all of us at Peace4 the Missing as we do our best to bring light to the darkness surrounding the case of Faye Aline Self and all the others.

Fight For The Victims, March 30!

written by daughter, Karrie

As you all know, My family has been begging the Red River Sheriff's Department for justice for nearly 26 years. March 30, 2009, will mark the 26th years I have been without my mother. I grew up in the shadow of a phantom mother and with the vivid imagination only a child can have. It took my child like mind six years to actual conjure up the thought, she might be dead. With this in mind, I still do not know where she is, or where her remains lay. I desperately want to bring Justice to Louisiana since finding my mother has never been a priority. If it were just her case, I would think it were an anomaly. But, it is apparently the standard by which most cases are handled in the state. Below is what I am using as a cover letter to send to every Federal and Louisiana Authority I can think of. Please join me in being a voice for the countless victims in the State of Louisiana. You may contact any agency directly, or send your notes: whokilledthem@yahoo.com.

I have also attached a list of victims from Louisiana, This in no way encompasses every unsolved case in the state, however, it is a sobering look at the daily reality a victims family lives through daily.

Thanks ahead of time for your compassion and help for the victims!

I am appealing to you to help those in your state that can no longer help themselves. I am referring to the staggering number of unsolved missing and murdered cases in the state of Louisiana. My mother, FAYE ALINE SELF, disappeared from Red River Parish March 30, 1983. As the letter that follows explains, we tried desperately to bring closure to her case, but have been met with resistance from the local Red River Sheriffs department to the Louisiana Attorney General's office. In the years I have spent researching my mom's case, I have come across countless cases that could very well be my own. Judy Gary, vanished in 1988, and her family was also denied the opportunity to file a missing persons report. This in itself is not a crime, though it certainly should be. I have been told many times that there is no one has jurisdiction over police. And, I must first prove that the local police committed a crime. The loss of evidence and other things listed in my letter are not illegal as of yet. It has been told to me, that it is a shame, but incompetence is not illegal and in the smaller parishes this sometimes happens! It was further explained to me that when the smaller parishes can not afford to hold a murder trial, it is easier to call a case a 'suicide' or 'self defense' to save Parish funding.

I kindly remind you that Jesus, Our Savior was moved to compassion for the masses. I am only asking that you and those of us with murdered and missing loved ones stand together to combat the air of corruption that has surrounded the state of Louisiana for so long.

I humbly ask that you look at the list of unsolved cases I have included here and pray for guidance in the laws and procedures that need to be changed for the betterment of the citizens of Louisiana. This list in no way encompasses all of the unsolved missing and murdered, but it is a sobering look at the reality that so many of us face daily.

I eagerly await your reply.

Respectfully,

VICTIM LIST

Rachel Conger

March 13, 2008 was the first day of Spring Break for Amber Simmons, but when she awoke that morning things were different. Her mother, Rachel Conger, wasn't home and as Amber went about her day, her mother never returned. Family members gathered and went to the police that evening and reported her missing.
Rachel was estranged from her husband, Paul Conger, and by March 16 he would be found dead of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Sources say that the marriage between Rachel and Paul was stormy and they had planned on a divorce. According to investigators they think Rachel is the victim of a murder suicide at the hands of her husband, Paul.
According to family members Rachel married young, but always had a great sense of responsibility. She was young when she became a mother, but took the role quite seriously and raised her daughter, Amber to have that same sense. Rachel's first marriage broke up, but she was on great terms with her ex husband's family and they all mended their fences years ago. Rachel stayed close to the family, as did Amber.
Even though this year did not bring the answers Amber is looking for, it's not because she hasn't been in the forefront leading the way for searches to be conducted in several areas of interest. Amber coordinated car washes, bake sales, and concerts, any way she could she raised money to fund searches.
Last month, CUE Center for Missing Persons united with local law enforcement and search and recovery K9 teams from all over the country to conduct a massive search, trying to bring Rachel home before the one year anniversary of her vanishing. Although weather hampered their efforts, they will be back again to continue searching.
Amber Simmons has had a lot of love and support for her efforts this year, not only from her loving family, but from total strangers who were won over by her maturity and strength to carry on looking for her mother.

“My mom was the most amazing woman ever and the best friend I have ever had and that is what keeps me going everyday. I know that one day eventually she will be found because I will never give up looking for my mother, my best friend. I could tell her everything and she wouldn't judge me- only help me and be understanding.”

This beautiful poem is posted on the family site, Bring Rachel Home:

The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning,
that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide;
and though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same;
but as GOD calls us one by one,
The Chain will link again.

Prayers, support and encouragement for Amber and her family can be made at Peace4 the Missing.

Tina Stevens, Featured Member Of Peace 4 The Missing

I wrote this post for our featured members section on Peace 4 The Missing..Tina Stevens is a very dear and close friend of mine and I wanted to share her story with others..She is truly an inspiration for other people..She may not be missing, and does not have a missing loved one but her drive and desire to help people that do is an admiration to me and should be to others..She is a woman who has experienced loss and tragedy in life..

Tina Stevens was one of three sisters and one brother who were raised by a single father..She grew up in a home where a mother's absence was known. She was rebelious and hard headed and gave her father a run for his money. At the age of sixteen Tina left home and shacked up with a man named Charlie and she became a young mother..She had her first child, a daughter Camron at the age of eighteen and a son Anthony at the age of nineteen..She spent seven years with a man who was never home. His priorities were going out and getting drunk and having a good time while his family was at home and leaving Tina to raise the kids by herself..She finally left him to start a better life. One she thought that she and her two children righfully deserved..

And so she set out on the road to single motherhood..Raising them all by herself, supporting them financially by herself..A hard job to do all by oneself but she did the best that she knew how..

When she turned twentyseven she met a man who she thought was going to take care of her and her other two children..She fell in love and moved in with a man were she then had a third child named Ty..Quickly she saw that this man was bad news he was abusive and she new that she needed to get out of this relationship so once again she set out on that path that she new so well. But this time she was a single mother of three childeren..

The summer of 2003 Tina met two woman Jennifer Warner and Angie Gilchrist..She formed a very close relationship with both the woman..At the time Tina had no idea that these two woman would have an impact on the woman she would become in the future..For at that time the trio enjoyed parting together and having a good time..Forgetting there sorrows, frustrations and difficulties in life...As the years went by the woman matured and kind went down different paths in life but they remained friends and stayed in touch..

The events of memorial weekend (May 27) 2007 forever changed Tina's life..Split it into unfathomable dynamics..What started out to be a fun filled weekend of splashing in the pool and riding four wheelers and dunne buggies turned out to be a weekend of horror and tragedy..Tina and her youngest boy decided to chill in the pool for the afternoon while the oldest two children, Camron and Anthony set out to ride some four wheelers and dunn buggies for the afternoon.

As the brother and sister duo sped through a field with their hair blowing freely, having no cares in the world with their friends, enjoying their rides..The rear akle of the dunn buggie fourteen year old Anthony Morris drove became lose and broke do to the bouncing in the field..The rear akle came up and hit Anthony in the left temple..The force was so great that it crushed the left side of his skull..He died instantly..Anthonys oldest sister Camron witnessed his death..Tina layed her son to rest on May 31, 2007..He was only fourteen years old..

Tina like so many of us who suffer such tradegy was in disbelief..She felt like it was just a bad dream and wished that she could wake up from it but the reality began to set in for her and she knew that it was not a nightmare and that she had to keep in mind that she was not the only one suffering..Camron and Ty lost their brother to..

It has been two years since the loss of her son Anthony and Tina is now in a place in her life where she finally feels some sort of purpose and reason to live..She now thinks of consequences of her actions and thinks before she does...She has a desire to protect the two children she has left and keep them close..Has a greater awareness for quality time with her children...

She often wonders what her son Anthony would look like today and how he would sound and what he would be doing with his life..She tells me that even though the pain then was extreme she now reflects back on her memories of him and that gives her peace..Anthony is her inspiration, her light, her guide in who and what she wants to do with her future..

Tina became aware of missing persons through Jennifer and Angie..She had never known anyone personally and when she became friends with these two woman and the lose of her son she felt drawn to make a difference for other people..

In the month of January, Tina participated in the searches for Alice Donovan..She told me that she was nervous but very anxious at the same time...I would have to say I was very excited to have the chance to be a part of something so big for Ange and Jen...Helping to assist the both of them with some closure is very important to me...I know losing Anthony has been very tough on me but I had closure..I really cant imagine nor can I say I know what the two of them are feeling....What was going through my mind? Well I was trying to think like a criminal I will have to say that was tough because I am not... I wanted so badly to be able to keep up with everyone and learn all that I could ,because I know this is my calling...I also had sad feelings for your mother..That day November 14, 2002 kept going through my mind....And the tragic moment that took place in that wooded area...It made me cry and feel hollow....I couldnt understand how someone could be so cruel and evil... Out there searching for your their mother gave me some insight on myself as well and how short life can be and that I should not waste another moment of my life being stupid, careless, and selfish..And that right now I can help make a difference and thats what I want to do...Working with Monica Caison was such an inspiration, she is a wonderful person and I look forward to assisting her

Finding and searching for missing persons is the driving force of her future..Tina has never felt like she belonged anywhere or fit in..But she tells me that searching and rescuing missing persons is her true calling...She looks forward to becoming certified and going out in the "feild" and making other peoples dreams come true..She told me that life is full of evil and that it can knock on anyones door..But if we can look beyond the evil we will and can see the good.

Monday 4 The Missing, Suzanne Lyall

written by: Mammabear, Lost Faces of the Missing

Nineteen!
The thing I remember most about being nineteen, was how spontaneous and carefree the world seemed to be, back then. I had an entire life before me, and I was unstoppable!

Suzanne was nineteen when she disappeared...
she had her entire life before her, too!

Suzanne Lyall was last seen on the evening of March 2, 1998, at approximately 9:20 p.m., as she departed her place of employment at the Crossgates Mall in Guilderland, New York. Lyall was known to have boarded a Capital District Transit Authority bus heading to Collins Circle at the State University of New York (SUNY), at Albany, New York, where she was a student. It is believed that she exited the bus at Collins Circle at approximately 9:45 p.m. and has not been seen since that time.

Man sought as a possible witness
At about 4 p.m. on March 3, 1998, Lyall's ATM card was used at the Stewart's Store located on the corner of Manning Boulevard and Central Avenue, Albany, NY.

At about this same time the individual appearing in the composite picture, left, made a purchase at the counter inside the store.

He is a black male, with a medium/muscular build approximately 30 years old, 6-foot tall, wearing a mid-length "Carhart" type jacket and a dark baseball cap with the "Nike" swoosh symbol on the front.

It is believed that Lyall was wearing the jewelry shown when she disappeared. A polished, 14K, fluted bow ring; a silver ring in the shape of a frog and a necklace with a silver medallion inscribed with a runic character that looks like a block-style letter S. She may also have been wearing a 14K gold flower design cocktail ring.

I was a student at the University at Albany when Suzanne Lyall went missing in
March of 1998.
Living in a downtown dormitory, I still recall the night when the fliers
stating she was missing went up on the walls in the hallways.
Looking at them, my friends and I shrugged the whole situation off as just
being another kid leaving town for the weekend and not letting their parents
know their plans.

Ten years later, we still don’t know what happened to Suzanne. Her parents,
Douglas and Mary, are struggling with not knowing and they may be for
the rest of their lives.

“Until we know for sure that Suzanne’s deceased, we’ll always hold out hope that she’s alive and out there somewhere. There’s no getting away from that for us. Even if on the surface people in our situation might say we’ve given up and there’s no way she’s alive, there’s still that little cell way back in the consciousness that says she could be. You see a story on TV where a woman has been held captive in some underground bunker for ten years and you think, ‘Is Suzanne being held against her will somewhere?’”
